“How's your attitude?” When I worked on the college
campus, I had a friend, a member of the faculty, who would
always greet me with that question. I do not recall a time when
he greeted me with “Hello” or “How are you?” His greeting was
nearly always, “How's your attitude?”
How is your attitude as a Lion? Are you positive and upbeat
about your club's activities, fund raisers and membership
prospects? Or do you find yourself taking the “I don't think
this project will work” or the “We'll never get any new members
in this community” point of view. Is your attitude at the right
“latitude?”
My car dealership encourages me to bring my vehicle in regularly
for a state inspection, tune-up or oil change . We need to “take
ourselves in” regularly for an “attitude inspection” and if it's
not where it should be, then we probably need a little “attitude
tune-up” or even an “attitude change.” Our lives and our Lions
clubs will run smoother. Norman Vincent Peale had this
suggestion: “Start each day by affirming peaceful, contented and
happy attitudes and your days will tend to be pleasant and
successful.” That is very good advice.
Our attitudes are fully under our own control. We each have the
opportunity to choose to be positive and affirming. We can
choose to work hard on that Lions project or choose to invite
that neighbor down the street. We can choose to be a part of the
solution to any issue or problem. With our attitudes at the
right latitude, we will find our service engines humming right
along.
So then, “How's your attitude?”
