Fellow Lions of 29-L,
In all the enjoyment of the holiday season do not forget that
our Lions family needs nurturing too. We need to continue
working to build our membership base and pass on our legacy of
service.
One thing we should add to our list of resolutions this New Year
is to make an extra effort to treat each other with respect. We
are all volunteers, which means we are generously giving our
time and our toil to help others. We were not drafted into a
military organization or born into serfdom. We should all check
our egos at the door as we enter into Lionism as well. It should
not be about us, but about them, meaning those that we serve …
the people we are committed to help. Also, be mindful of other
area clubs and respect their boundaries of operations. Do not
step on their turf without their permission and guidance. We are
all here to serve and we should be able to do it with a spirit
of respect, togetherness, and joy. There are enough stresses in
life that we should try to avoid adding to them as we serve in
Lionism.
It is not too late to sign up for the Leadership School January
27-29 at Lakeview Resort. You will have a good time, learn lots
of good things, and come away inspired. What more can you ask
for?
For those clubs who gave more to LCIF this year, pat yourself on
the back. LCIF contributions for last fiscal year were up 40%
worldwide. For the first four months of this fiscal year the
contributions were up 62%. Just think of all the good works that
Lions around the world can accomplish with those funds! May 2012
be an even better year than 2011! Keep warm thoughts in your
heart and remember, we serve
