District 29-L

Grow And Serve

District Governor Lion Jeff Baxter

Message from our District Governor

G’ Day Lions,
It is not too late to sign up to volunteer at the Dan Dague Memorial Car and Bike Show. PDG Paul Amrhein and PDG Eva Dague tell me they still need clubs to sponsor trophies for $15/each and need your help at the show.
Several clubs have scheduled DG nights. If you haven't scheduled yet, please do so as soon as
possible. Thursday nights are close to being filled.
Zone chairs are scheduling their zone meetings. I encourage club presidents and zone chairs to invite the MERLO team to your meetings. The MERLO team will be a great asset to your club’s membership drives. District 29L is using part of the Ohio plan for membership growth.
We know if you try this plan, it does work. One club in our district used the plan and has nine new members over the last year and a half. While going over the M&A reports, I have been impressed with all of the projects and fund raisers Lions of 29L do. Lions are some of the most dedicated and enthusiastic people I know. Let us put that same effort into growing our organization.
We have a tentative date picked to start organizing a new club in the East Fairmont area. September 13th, 14th and 15th we are planning to meet in Barrackville to get training and collect names of new members. PDG John Pinkerman is our tentative trainer. If any Lion member is available, please contact me or anyone on the MERLO team including 1st VDG
Patty Nutter or 2nd VDG Bob Moffet. Names of potential new members in this area would also be appreciated.
International President Scruggs’ theme, “The Beacon of Hope”, can be achieved if we all do one small thing to help some
one less fortunate or extend Lionism to another person or new area that needs a Lions club. Sept. 11th will be the 1st annual Visually Impaired Person fishing tournament. It will be held at Stonewall Jackson State park. Registration starts at 8:00 am. Contact PCC Trish Glennon at 304-229-7949 or 74 Brickmason Drive Inwood, WV 25428.
Clubs are you looking for a program? District 29L has a lot to choose from: Peace Poster, Youth Exchange, Diabetes
Awareness, WV Sight Foundation, Publicity, MERLO Team, and Deaf and Blind Recreation just to name a few.
Does your club have a fund raising event coming up? Want some FREE publicity? Notify our newsletter editor, Phyllis
Amrhein, send your information to her and she will make it happen through our newsletter.

Keep up the good work and lets keep hitting the GAS.

GROW AND SERVE
Yours in Lionism,
DG Jeff
